Tigerettes transfer to winter activities on Monday, November 2nd. The 14 girls doing concert band will report to the bandroom with instruments everyday during 5th block to prepare for the Christmas Concert in December. The 14 girls doing winter guard will continue to report to the guardroom everyday during 5th block to start workouts for the winter season. Absences, tardies, checkouts will impact student grade.
Our next required Tigerette event is the Summit Holiday Parade on Friday, November 20th. Girls will perform as dancing candy canes. They must have WHITE (not cream or ivory or off white) long sleeve turtle neck, white opaque tights, white fold down socks, and white ked like tennis shoes used at tryouts to wear under the costume in the picture. More details will be provided as event approaches.
Tigerettes are also required to participate in the Band Christmas Party on Friday night, December 4th. Girls wear cute party clothes and bring goodies assigned. This event is sponsored by our Band Boosters. More details provided as the event approaches.
Last but not least...DINNER & DANCING WITH THE STARS!!
This year's Tigerette holiday party type event is an optional activity...our plans can include Tigerettes, Moms, Grandmoms, and Sisters!! The national Dancing with the Stars Tour will be at BJCC in Birmingham on Tuesday, December 29th at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are minimum of $53 per person. Those of you interested should quickly gather your troops and PURCHASE YOUR OWN DWTS tickets via ticketmaster.com. Dinner for all those who choose to participate will be planned prior to the show. We realize this is a bit pricey but we figure it cost no more than when we saw the Rockettes in Nashville a few years ago so we hope you will all join us!

Tigs and Spring Sports
Getting several questions about the possibility of Tigerettes participating in spring sports...golf, track, tennis, and fishing teams. Coaches are recruiting girls because of their strong work ethic. We have NO PROBLEM with Tigs being involved and participating in other school extracurricular activities as long as all involved (student, parent, coaches) understand the following...
Tigerette, Band, and Winter Guard commitments including all in school/out of school practice and all events scheduled for the groups must be the #1 priority.
Tigs choosing or sharing time is not an option when a conflict arrises. Tigs must honor the first commitment they made and that was Band/Guard last January.
All Tigerettes will be in their 5th period band class all year long. They will not be excused from their 5th block band (or winter guard) class for anything other than travel to an off campus game, meet, or match.
Please remember as well...
Tigerettes will be involved in tryouts for a full week in January and that attendance is now required by Jefcoed so there is not an option to "choose or share" time that week.
Tigerettes will also be involved in preparation and participation in the NY trip.
Hope this info helps!!

Final Fall Fun!!
Senior Recognition will be this Thursday night at 6:30!! Guard will come dressed in costume for pregame performance and then quickly change into their vintage Tigerette or Disney Princess costume for the Halloween show at halftime. Hair flat ironed straight with clip and full natural makeup with red lip for both performances. Our End of Fall Celebration will be at 5 on Thursday so that is our report time...please see previous party post for details.
Thanks to every Guard Girl who worked hard every day to make this fall happen. Your attitude, your work ethic, your ability to follow the rules, your sincere care for the Guard program are key...it's never beauty and a smile that make things happen...it is Guard Girls who display great character everyday that make the program work, that make the program win, that help the group recover from a loss, and it is those girls who make the whole fall process a pleasure!!
Thank you as well to every Guard Parent who helped do any and everything this fall. Your support of your daughter's efforts are essential to her success on the field and off. We do appreciate every kind word, email, and text sent our way this fall.
We have a Pep Rally this Thursday at 2:30...Seniors will be recognized.
End of Season Reminders for Tigerettes & Parents!!!
Tigerette Budget...Guard money was spent & sheets for Fall 2015 will be sent home with girls after the next booster meeting.
Band Fees...all took care of this...Thank You!!
Home Concessions...parents worked or prepaid out or will owe $50 to Boosters before tryouts in Janury.
Off Season Fundraising...Concert Band girls are required to continue to participate in band fundraisers. WG girls are required to fundraise for WG.
NY Trip...please make sure you get your payments handled with company. Must be paid in full by February 1st.
Holiday Concert, District Concert, Spring Concert...all TBA...these are required events!! Employers can’t require a student to miss a required school event or a rehearsal for an event. If written verification for employer is needed see one of us immediately. It is STUDENT'S responsibility to inform the employer about school required events in a timely manner...failure to do so will not excuse your absence. Please make sure that you listen to Directors for information that will be announced about these events.
Schedule Changes...please be reminded that any student requesting a schedule change out of band for 2nd semester automatically removes themselves as a member of the band program & from their position as a Tigerette. No schedule changes permitted mid-semester. Written request from Parent for 2nd semesters is due to Guidance office by the end of this week. If you are not following procedure/rules, if you tell others you don’t like guard, or if you are posting negative comments/pics/snaps on social media...you obviously might want to consider leaving at semester. We want every girl to be happy and the group honestly only need girls involved who enjoy what they are doing and really want to be there!!
Off Season Grades...Tigs must maintain an overall 70% average each grading period. Parents will be notified in writing if there is a problem with grades. Members on “Grade Probation” will be dismissed from the squad if they do not improve/maintain an overall 70%.
Off Season Conduct...Tigs are still expected to maintain Satisfactory conduct. Stay out of the office!! Follow the dress code, do not be tardy, do not skip class, do not cheat, do not lie, be respectful, keep your lips (and everything else) to yourself, be a kind, sweet, cooperative young lady at school, in your social life, and at home!!! If school, social, and home problems are impacting your Guard involvement you must understand fully that those type issues can impact leadership decisions in the future.
Off Season Hair...Tigs agreed to maintain a shoulder length hairstyle. While we feel sure that some of you may need a good trim as the season ends, do not think for a second that a chin or shoulder touching length hairstyle, or drastic color change is okay...we view this as defiance. Very simply stated, it is not what you agreed to do when you tried out last year so don’t do it!!! COLOR = NATURAL!!! Please have hairdressers do any/highlighting/lowlighting/coloring by working off your natural hair color...the real color of your hair is the one growing at the roots. Again...know that continual hair issues can impact leadership decisions down the road.
Off Season Weight...extra pounds weaken your ability to move & perform with ease. PLEASE eat healthy & work out to get in shape...tryouts are in about 12 weeks.
Off Season Skills...please take an honest look at skills in all areas and work to improve in the off season. Flags, weapons, and body!! Girls are not guaranteed a spot on next year’s squad. We had several girls who worked soooo hard but struggled to keep up all fall...it would really be in their best interested to get enrolled in a local dance class and/or take private spin lessons from one of our Seniors during the winter & spring to help grow their ability & performance skills.
Tigerette Tryouts = January 25-29, 2016....we scheduled tryouts in January again this year to avoid conflict with district contest dates. A new doctor signed physical form will be due at tryouts. Sign up and more tryout info will be given out first week of December. Our three Seniors will be needed daily afterschool that week to assist with teaching tryout material.
Concert Band and Winter Guard will begin next week so girls will need instruments. Guard girls received a grade 1st 9 weeks which reflected their work as a Tigerette on the field. Looking ahead their work ethic in class along with unexcused absences or checkouts from 5th block class will impact 2nd 9 weeks band grade. 7 Parent notes are permitted per semester. The only “excused” absence from class are ones labeled “P”...given when the student produces a doctor’s excuse or when the student is given a “Principal excused absence” for a college day or something similar. Band/WG is your scheduled class and it is a graded subject. Do not show up late with a pass from other teachers, & do not ask to leave the band class to do work for other classes you have scheduled. Band is not an off period or your study hall. Please also remember that our BDs also have input as to those chosen for leadership roles in coming years....a girl who is “stellar” on the field but a “ stinker” the remainder of the time should not expect selection for leadership.
Summit Christmas Parade is Friday, November 20th...required!! Girls must wear WHITE turtleneck, WHITE matte tights, WHITE little girl type fold down socks, and WHITE keds along with the Candy Cane costumes we will issue that week. More details will be posted closer to event.
And last but not least...our 14 concert band girls received a white envelope last Friday night containing information about the band's next Preister's Pecan fundraiser. Please make sure girls sell at least one and get their stuff turned in to Mr. Adams on time.

Each of the 28 girls will need to bring their own large shopping bag and all are expected to bring something gifty to put in everyone's bags along with something good to eat. Bringing Back the Blog!!
Happy Fall Yall!!
It appears from the number of questions we are receiving that our email and texts are not getting read by several of our girls/parents so we are bringing back the blog!! Please bookmark or favorite this address on your computer (and cell phone) so you can quickly review all the most current Guard info.
Guard girls and their Parents are responsible for all information posted here so it is important that everyone check the site on their own a few times each week. Remind texts will still be used for "real time info" when we are at practice, games, events.
And lastly as we have said before...Guard girls MUST have a charged cell phone with them at all times!!
Information for this week will be posted here later this afternoon so please check back. Thanks!
