THANK YOU!!

Change is hard but thinking positively ahead...we are excited about what the fall show will bring us. We think the show "UNITED" will inspire even the most grumpy popcorn eater in the stands...lol. We think the work will be done in a way that judges will also respect the product produced on the field and it is our hope that we see even greater heights of success next fall.

We know the Guard as always will be a great contributing factor to the success of the fall show, and the work they have put in this spring, along with summer practice will go along way in making things happen...please encourage your daughters to spin in the yard this summer!! Watch them, brag on them, and praise their efforts...your attention to their skill growth will go a long way to help them mature their skills.

Along those lines we will add that we think things will be much better financially next year. The new Booster Eboard along with most all of you have worked very hard to right a difficult Booster financial situation and for that we say THANK YOU. We expect a tighter ship to run in the years ahead which should make everything easier for all of us....our kids, the band staff, and you guard parents who support the program is such a huge way.

Please don't forget that we have our final Winter Guard fundraiser of the year scheduled for tomorrow night in Hueytown. We will be working at Zaxby's from 5 to 8 p.m. Please spread the word and get everyone you know to come eat at Zaxby's tomorrow night so the WG can make as much $$ as possible!! And yes...you heard right...next year's Winter Guard will attend and compete at WGI World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. It's time!!

Hope to see you all Tuesday night at Zaxbys!! Thanks!!

Tigerettes Perform Friday Morning!!!

Tigerettes have FINALLY been included as part of the 5th grade orientation day here at OGHS so our veteran Tigs grades 7-11 will get to perform and next year's captains (Kaitlin & Haley) will do a recruiting speech!!

We are sorry for the late notice/just got the info yesterday afternoon...

Tigerettes come to school Friday morning dressed and ready to perform. Wear the red uniform from the fall with the red leotard underneath, and because the white shoes are in such poor shape we will perform barefoot with no hose. Make sure undergarments are correct!! Legs and pits shaved. Hair straight and lookin good...full face makeup in natural colors.

Report to the Guard Room as soon as you arrive on campus Friday morning. You will practice a bit, perform at 9 a.m., and then change clothes & head to class. Do not come to school barefoot...lol...obviously wear shoes and obviously BRING school and practice clothes to change into after the morning performance. Guard clinic will continue as scheduled!!

This is a 5th grade event only so no Tig parents...just 5th grade recruiting!!

We know Tigs are prepping for the banquet this week so we won't worry about nail polish color this time...do whatever you had already planned. And if you are worried about being "Patty Pale" in your red uniform buy some rub on tan at Walmart or get a spray on...tan not required now girlies...just sayin...lol.

Doctor's excuse required to miss this performance.

Spring Guard Clinic

Tigerettes Grades 6-11 will participate in a Guard Clinic during their regularly scheduled band classes every day next week...May 10-14. The clinic is required and girls MUST have a doctor's excuse to miss any band class scheduled.

Girls will need to be prepared daily to change quickly into a t-shirt and shorts. Athletic shoes (no dance shoes, no converse) are required for the class as well. They should also bring a bottle of water with them each day. Tigs who forget their practice clothes and shoes will not participate...will be considered absent unexcused, and will sit out next fall. Remember, unexcused absences = suspension from performance...one performance per unexcused absence.

Blake Perry, former member of JSU Center Stage World Class Guard, will instruct our girls in three areas. A warm-up body block will be taught to "Just for Today" by India Arie. A flag block will be taught to "Imma Be" by Black Eyed Peas. A rifle block will be taught to "Please Don't Stop the Rain" by James Morrison. If you are going to buy these songs please remember we always use the radio edited versions for cleanliness.
