Garment ID, Beach, Hems, & Pics

Garment ID...make sure you SHARPIE every item with your name or initials. Find the tags or an inside spot that WILL NOT SHOW. Be VERY VERY VERY CAREFUL that you do not allow the sharpie to "bleed" aka damage the look of any item. Sadly, stuff does get lost during the season...with names/initials we can normally find and return things to their owners...without those markings things disappear and the parent has to make another purchase. Please note the red uniform and white costume are not replaceable due to the 12 week timeline for production...if you lose or damage either of those...you will return to the horn or drumline to finish the season.

Beach notes will go home with those participating on Friday and will need to be returned signed by parent next MONDAY!!

White Costume Hem...opitional offer...Haley's Mom/Pam White has offered to hem jumpsuits for $10 each. If you are interested in having her hem the costume for you...bring $10 cash and your costume with you to camp MONDAY morning. Mrs. Pam will come in after lunch, we will have you try on your outfit, she will pin the hem to the proper length and of course take the costume with her to complete the work. It will be returned as soon as she finishes and obviously in time for the 1st time we wear them in late September. (Side note...both Haley & her older sister Michele have been Tigerettes...Pam has been sewing and making alterations for years for us. If you would like the top of your costume tweaked at the top around the bust area please bring an additional $5 cash with you and she can pin and get that done too...Pam does great work!!!) So...hem only $10 cash...hem and bust $15 cash.

Pictures will be made for the fall football program at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10.
Tigs must arrive fully dressed, full face makeup, no jewelry, with straight hair down/no pins/clips. Fully dressed = arrive wearing red costume with back straps saftey pinned tightly. We want those pinned on both red uni and white costumes bc they will continue to stretch out during the season and pins will allow us to continue to tighten as we go. Bra required is a nude halter style/no clear straps/with great support...we tolerate no jiggle...and just like tryouts if you need a little extra up top go to Walmart and buy it...lol. Panty required is a BARELY THERE OR LOVE PAT style full panty in NUDE...make sure you get a large enough size the it fits and is not soooo tight that the panty is pulled sheer. Hose required are LEGGS SHEER ENERGY/SHEER TO THE WAIST/SUNTAN...no other kind will work...we know the difference!! These can be found at most local drug stores and Walmart or in bulk (suggested) at the Hanes/Bali outlet at Watermark. (hose note...these will NOT marking to the thigh line, only a small square where the legs meet at the top of the hose)

Please note...the same NUDE/HALTER bra & panty used above will be used with the bodystocking when we wear the White Costume!!

If you have questions about any of the above please email. Things are going great (well except for my flu/sinus infection...lol) and the girls are working very hard and also seem to be having a ton of fun sitting together and getting to know each other at various times during the day. IT IS HOT!!!! Please encourage water and rest during this next weekend...limit as much caffiene as possible to keep the girls hydrated for next week's short week.

Guard Band Camp Info

Band camp letters have been mailed and you should have received one in the regular mail sometime last week. If you did not get one please contact Booster Secretary/Carol Hughes @ 332-9376 to get a copy of Mr. Henson's letter.

--------------------------------------------------------

Here is some camp info specific to GUARD ONLY that was not included in the mailed letter...

GUARD Band Camp Schedule

Monday, July 26th 8-4
Tuesday, July 27th 8-4
Wednesday, July 28th 8-4
Thursday, July 29th 8-4
Friday, July 30th 8-4

Monday, August 2nd 8-4
Tuesday, August 3rd 8-4
Wednesday, August 4th 8-4

Tuesday, August 10th 5-9 p.m.

Guard members WILL NOT ATTEND rehearsals on August 5th, 6th, and 9th. These rehearsal dates are for horns & drums only and our Guard members ARE NOT PERMITTED on campus during those rehearsals.

Pictures for the fall football program will be made Tuesday, August 10th. More specific information will be posted on the blog prior to that date.

If you are absent from required camp dates above you must have a verifiable doctor excuse, a verifiable court date, or a verifiable death in your immediate family. A family emergency is defined as a situation which requires the specific attention of said Guard member and does not occur on a regular basis. Work is not an excused absence...if you need a letter documenting your rehearsal schedule for your employer please let us know.

If you are on time...you are late!! Guard Captains are expected 15 minutes before call time and 15 minutes after. All should plan ahead so you don't have to run laps...tardy = 1 lap per minute late...double laps if a Captain. We caution Guard members who will be driving to and from band to make sure that you maintain a timeline that does not put you at risk for getting a speeding ticket and/or something worse. Old enough to drive yourself and others to band = old enough to get up and leave the house in plenty of time!!!

Guard members are not permitted to leave campus during band camp. Student drivers may not be in and out of cars during the day. Make sure you have what you need when you come inside each morning. NO LUNCH DELIVERIES...they always cause a distraction to our timeline so you must bring your lunch with you or buy it from concessions. Guard members always eat together in the guard room everyday...we don't run wild on campus during that hour.

---------------------------------------------------------

Here is what you must bring with you daily...

Lunch and/or cash to buy concessions
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Water Jug
Beach towel or yoga mat
Guard gloves
Bandaids (if feet & hands tend to blister)
Fem items as needed

1st day you will need to bring your rifle & flag and also your $100 band fee. Checks should be made out to OGHS Band. If you bounced a check last spring you must pay with cash or a money order. Guard Vets please refer to the previous blog post from April that shows the exact amount you owe after the application of credit for Statue of Liberty ticket refund last spring.

-----------------------------------------------------

Here is what you should wear...

No makeup
Hair in ponytail
Soffe type shorts*
Tshirt**
Athletic shoes (no converse)
Low cut socks

*soffe shorts will not be rolled so high that we see cheekage!

**during camp due to temp and amount of time we practice we allow tank tops and/or cami style summer tops as long as BRA STRAPS MATCH COLOR. During school you will have to wear a tshirt with your shorts during 4th block.

--------------------------------------------------------

All fall uniforms, costumes, pep wear, shoes, bags, etc. will be distributed after lunch the first day of camp. This is always VERY exciting, but does not require Mommy's help...lol. Moms will see everything when the girls bring them home that day.

Girls on that first Monday will try on every item so we can swap things around and get everyone the best fit possible. Girls MUST wear white or nude color modest undies that day...we don't need sheer bras and thongs when playing dress up!!

We must keep everything looking new and fresh so please note that NO FALL ITEM is to be worn until the assigned time. Parent must get Director approval on any and every alteration made to any item. Alterations are paid for by the parent.

Girls will get lots of stuff that first day so make sure you bring a LARGE SHOPPING BAG with you to hold it all!!! Please note...Tigerettes with outstanding band debt of any kind will not be issued fall guard items until the debt is paid in full via cash or money order.

--------------------------------------------------------

BOYS!!! Boyfriends are not permitted at rehearsals. Guard girls who date boys in the band must follow the same rule...you will not be a couple at rehearsals. Please explain this to your boyfriends...if you can't WE WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TOO!!

--------------------------------------------------------

APPEARANCE

Please make sure that your hair color and length meet the group guidelines BEFORE arriving the first day of camp. No hair should be too dark or too light. Any highlights must be natural looking. Remember you are expected to work off your natural hair color which is the color at the root and that your hair length must be shoulder or longer when prepared for performance. No bangs.

If you have put on a few pounds over the summer please use these next two weeks to trim it off. Extra pounds inhibit your ability to move with ease. Cut out sodas, drink lots of water, and make healthy food choices...you will be surprised how successful you will be in getting those pounds to disappear!!

No visible piercings other than ears. Belly piercings should be bandaided flat under your shirt for every rehearsal and performance. Visible tattoos must be covered with skincolored waterproof dermablend type makeup at every rehearsal and performance. These guidelines will also apply during each & every school day!!

--------------------------------------------------------

Guard Girls and Moms who paid last spring to participate in our annual beach trip will get a letter with trip info Thursday or Friday the first week of camp. We have a fun, safe trip planned in spite of the oil issue...lol. Dates are August 5th - 8th. Plan to leave early morning on the 5th. Parents please begin to make your plans for carpooling. Guard girls who don't have a parent traveling with you please be prepared to tell us at band camp which Guard mom you have arranged to ride with during the trip.

--------------------------------------------------------

Lastly please remember that OGHS Tigerettes are expected to set the standard for good behavior, good grades, and a good work ethic. 24/7...at school, at home, and in your social lives we always expect the best from you. This requires a mind, body, and spirit that is free from anything or anybody that alters thinking and behavior in a negative way. Review the Tigerette Trait list you received the first day you made guard...if you make a solid effort to make sure you try to display those traits everyday it will make a huge difference in the success of our group as a whole.

We are sooooooo excited about the fall and hope you are too!! If you have questions don't hesitate to email. See you in 2 weeks!!! love, love UNITED 2010!!!
