Game Weeks 4 & 5

Updated RED Guard Schedule is going home with the Tigs today...watch for a RED packet of info with the details!! Great job by our guard last Friday night...so excited about exhibition & jamboree week ahead!! Please note a few new things that should help the group experience go more smoothly & then as always the basics for review... 1. Every tidbit of info for the Guard is here on the blog or via mass text. If it is listed/posted/sent then each girl is responsible for making it happen. The opposite is also true, if it is not explained somewhere on the blog or in a note or in a text girls obviously will not be held responsible...we are not trying to trick anyone...haha...just trying to get you all the info you need when you need it. 2. Captains and their family members are asked not to respond to calls, emails, or texts related to things explained via methods listed above. Simply put...it is not fair for their senior experience/personal time to be clouded with questions about things already detailed for everyone in a note, on the blog, or via text. 3. We have had home games and away games so the basic processes for operation should be evident. Directors will always text when the blog is posted or updated during the week, they will email girls and parents only in event of urgent or emergency situations. 4. Our practice plans for this week are different...see red packet sent home today!! Review of basic info... No tardies, checkins, or checkouts on Tuesdays, Thursdays, & Fridays without a doctor's excuse. School, band, guard rules apply. Guard gloves are needed at every practice/game/performance. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays during 7th period girls need athletic type shoes and practice clothes. Tuesday nights, Thursday afterschools girls will also need weather appropriate practice clothes and athletic type shoes. No boyfriends or visitors at rehearsals. Friday dress/hair/makeup & any pep rally plans will be announced during 7th period during each week...girls must listen in class and are expected to follow verbal instructions provided. Spanx type garments should be worn as needed to eliminate bounce, jiggle, and rolls. Bodystocking was provided for warmth and will be worn with costume when needed later in the season. Jazz shoes should be wiped clean. Pep/uniform/costume should be spot cleaned only. Guard bag should always contain poms, vet black blanket, and clear ponchos. Game/Contest day nails must be clear or french manicure. No jewelry or visible tattoos on game/contest days. Tigerettes are required to be in the company of at least two other guard members at all times at all rehearsals & games/contests...both home & away...there is safety in numbers. Before games, rehearsals, and for contests girls are given a specific “report time” . Tigs are not permitted to stay on campus afterschool without a Director. All must leave campus and are not permitted to return to campus until 10 minutes prior to report time...no exceptions!! Girls can’t be on campus unsupervised. If you live too far to make it back you will need to find a friend who lives closer to go home with that afternoon. Home Games...girls are dismissed from the band section at the end of the game. No early departures. Away Games/Contests...members may be checked off the Guard bus at the end of the event. No early departures. Parent/adult is required to go to our bus for check off. Tigs are not permitted to check off our bus and ride a different band bus home. If you ride home on a band bus it is the same one you came on & you may be expected to help unload the truck. Ride should be waiting when we get back to the school. Tigs may only be checked off the bus by their parent or by an ADULT designated in writing by their parent. We are unable to verify notes turned in so please know that any student providing a “fake” note would be written up for providing false information. Cell calls & text can't be used to arrange check off. Cell Phones & Bus seating (explained to girls 7th period prior to the first away game). Always plan to have a bus partner, seniors are the only ones permitted to sit by themselves when we travel...goal is nobody leftout or alone. Cell phones are put away most of the time when we travel to avoid lack of focus, lack of group involvement, etc. Parents are welcomed to observe Tuesday night rehearsals. Please make sure that noise is kept to a minimum since we are in the process of instructing & learning. Also know that observers should sit in the end sections of the stadium only. The middle section is used by directors for instruction during the rehearsal. Students only please in the bandroom or school buildings on practice or event nights. Reminders... 1. Spring Trip info and deposit payments should be due to Mr. Henson in October...will post that info when it is confirmed. 2. Crimson Cavalcade is a free event. Band Jamboree tickets are on sale in the band office. $5 per ticket. All proceeds go to OGHS Band. (If you buy at the gate you pay more and the money goes to GHS Band) 3. Home Concession...please see Mr. Henson for the work schedule. 4. WG...invitiations will go out next week. 3 signed/notarized forms & $300 fee via bank check or money order is due on October 1st at the required meeting. No exception. Note: exhibitions are always crowded...the crowd is always huge so the girls will not have time or ability to search out parents for money. Parents should arrive early if they want front side seating. Loaded Guard Bag includes charged cell phone. Last but certainly not least... We thank you parents who go so far above and beyond to make your daughter's group...our Tigerettes at OGHS...run smoothly and efficiently. We appreciate your respect of & understanding of & compliance with group plans/procedures as well as your ability to go with the flow. Our goal is the same as most parents we feel sure...we want the guard program to produce smart, sweet, selfless girls who are responsible, caring, independent, and who display strong talents on field, in the classroom, and in their everyday lives. With two "hectic feeling" weeks ahead of us we ask that you please remember nothing is ever planned to cause student/parent problems, every decision made is well thought out and choices made are those that we feel are the best possible for the good of the group and each of it's members. Please remember too that proper rest, proper nutrition, and good hydration will go a long way to keep everyone healthy and happy so they can enjoy the fruits of their labor. :0) Philippians 4:7...And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Guard Stuff!!!

Skirts

The girls looked great walking around in the uniform on picture day and the pics should be fabulous...but we did however see the need for their bottoms to be more securely covered before they perform...black dance shorts have been ordered and will do the trick!!

Alterations

If your daughter needs minor alterations to her uniform or costume please call Gay Vanderburg @ 491-4032 to schedule an appointment asap.  Gay knows how our Guard items should fit and can tell you just what is needed to tweak uniform skirts that are too tight or costume legs that are too loose.  Her work is exceptional and her prices are great!!

Practice Wear

Guard members must have gloves, shorts, tshirt, and athletic shoes in class everyday starting Monday, Aug 19th.  Anything forgotten will require laps...repeat offenders will have laps doubled.  Please make sure the pink mesh capezio bag is packed for practice and ready to go everyday Monday-Friday.  Girls will need a bottle of water everyday during 7th period band...they can bring it with them from home or they can buy for $1 from the Winter Guard in the guardroom every afternoon.  Girls will need water jugs on Tuesday nights when our practice time is longer.

Guard members must wear Practice Blacks on Tuesday nights starting in September.  Practice Blacks = solid black ballet leotard and solid black soffee type shorts.  Gloves & athletic shoes are of course a must.  Black leggings and black sweatshirts are not to be worn until the weather becomes much, much cooler.

School Dress Code

Tigerettes are expected to follow school dress code as written.

Positive Public Image

Please make sure social sites like instagram and twitter stay clean. Make sure your walls and photos are set to PRIVATE so only you & your friends can see them. Pics, comments, etc. on your page should always represent you & our group in a positive light. Check your pages often and make sure to delete any questionable content should it pop up. Think before you post...do not retweet comments from others that contain questionable language or content.  LOTS of folks read what you say/post on public forums, and that can get you (and us) into very sticky situations.  Remember and apply Thumper's rule to all posts/pics..."if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." In 2013 Thumper would prob say..."if you can't post or load something nice online, then don't post or load any content at all."

Parents if your daughter has a smart phone/laptop/ipad/ipod type device we strongly suggest that you have one too...if they have a fb, instagram, or twitter you should have one too and we strongly suggest that you should also have access to their accounts whenever you need it.  Let's not forget that our girls are children posting/playing in what can quickly & easily become a very adult online world. Sadly, we don't live in the past where girls used a diary or journal to vent their feelings, they don't use an old time format that only they or you see & read. Today the things they write and pictures they post (even when set to private) are seen and then quickly circulate thru the whole community...not just because it's Oak Grove and people talk, but simply because the kids put it out there for the all to see and we all live in the world of social media today.

One other reminder for both parents and students is for everyone to remember that cell phone use is prohibited during the school day.  Everything you do on a cell phone is time stamped so if a question should come up about a student using their cells...the timeline is proof.  This includes texting.

Attendance

Tardies, checkins/checkouts, and school absences will be more closely monitored across the County this school year.  Expect violations in this area to be handled more quickly and firmly.

Picture Day and Schedule Update!!

PICTURE DAY...

Pictures will be made for the football program and yearbook this Friday 8 a.m.  We will take whole group pics first, then small groups, then individuals.  Tigs will NOT practice Friday...they dismiss at 10 a.m.  Parents should drop off like normal before 8 a.m. and have a ride waiting for pickup promptly at 10.

Tigerettes report Friday morning completely dressed and ready to take pictures!!!  It will be hot so please have a bottle of water with you...not a jug...just a water bottle.

Tigs wear...OGHS uniform, tan jazz shoes with "no show" footies to avoid blisters.  No gloves.  A black bra with black straps providing great support is required.  Seamless undies are also required.  The goal here is to remove all jiggle, bounce, and body rippling.  FYI...most girls...regardless of size...wear a spanx type garment to smooth & tone their appearance in uniform.

Hair must be worn down and straight...no ribbons, pins, clips...no middle parts...no bangs.  Make up should be done with natural colors and with a heavy application.

Tuesday, August 13th 8-NOON
Wednesday, Aug 14th 8-NOON
Thursday, August 15th 8-NOON
Friday, August 16th 8-NOON

Guard Members MUST leave campus promptly at dismissal everyday...must have someone ready to pickup or a pre-arranged ride home ready to go everyday.  Guard members are not permitted to be on campus without supervision, and thusly are not permitted to "hang out" during afternoon horn or percussion rehearsals.

Any absence from required camp dates above must have a verifiable doctor excuse, a verifiable court date, or a verifiable death in your immediate family. A family emergency is defined as a situation which requires the specific attention of said Guard member and does not occur on a regular basis. Work is not an excused absence...if you need a letter documenting your rehearsal schedule for your employer please let us know.

If you are on time...you are late!! Guard Captains are expected 15 minutes before call time and 10 minutes after. All should plan ahead so you don't have to run laps...tardy = 1 lap per minute late...double laps if a Captain. We caution Guard members who will be driving to and from band to make sure that you maintain a timeline that does not put you at risk for getting a speeding ticket and/or something worse. Old enough to drive yourself and others to band = old enough to get up and leave the house in plenty of time!!!

Guard members are not permitted to leave campus during band camp. Student drivers may not be in and out of cars during the day. Make sure you have what you need when you come inside each morning.  Forgotten items = more laps to run!!

Here is what you bring with you everyday...

Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Water Jug
Beach towel or yoga mat
Guard gloves
Bandaids (if feet & hands tend to blister)
Fem items as needed

You will need to bring your lunch and a large shopping bag the first day!!
You need to bring your rifle & flag and also your $100 band fee on the first day of camp. Checks should be made out to OGHS Band. If you bounced a check last spring you must pay with cash or a money order.

Here is what you should wear...

No makeup
Hair in ponytail
Soffe or Nike type shorts*
Tshirt**
Athletic shoes (no converse or vans)
low cut socks

*shorts will not be rolled so high that we see cheekage!

**due to temp and amount of time we practice we allow tank tops and/or cami style summer tops as long as BRA STRAPS ARE NUDE OR MATCH COLOR. During school you will have to wear a tshirt with your shorts during 4th block.

--------------------------------------------------------

All fall uniforms, costumes, pep wear, shoes, bags, etc. will be distributed after lunch the first day of camp. This is always VERY exciting, but does not require Mommy's help...lol. Moms will see everything when the girls bring them home that day.

Girls on that first Monday will try on every item so we can swap things around and get everyone the best fit possible. Girls MUST wear white or nude color modest undies that day...we don't need sheer bras and thongs when playing dress up!!

We must keep everything looking new and fresh so please note that NO FALL ITEM is to be worn until the assigned time. Parent must get Director approval on any and every alteration made to any item. Alterations are paid for by the parent.  Details concerning alterations will be posted on the blog after fitting the group and seeing what our needs are for the fall.

We will get lots of stuff that first day so make sure you bring a LARGE SHOPPING BAG with you to hold it all!!! Please note...Tigerettes with outstanding band debt of any kind will not be issued fall guard items until the debt is paid in full via cash or money order.

--------------------------------------------------------

BOYS!!! Boyfriends are not permitted at rehearsals. Guard girls who date boys in the band must follow the same rule...you will not be a couple at rehearsals. Please explain this to your boyfriends...if you can't WE WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TOO!!

-------------------------------------------------------

APPEARANCE

Please make sure that your hair color and length meet the group guidelines BEFORE arriving the first day of camp. No hair should be too dark or too light. Any highlights must be natural looking. Remember you are expected to work off your natural hair color which is the color at the root and that your hair length must be shoulder or longer when prepared for performance. No bangs.  Hair color must remain the same the entire fall season!!

If you have put on a few pounds over the summer please use these remaining days to trim it off. Extra pounds inhibit your ability to move with ease. Cut out sodas, drink lots of water, and make healthy food choices...you will be surprised how successful you will be in getting those pounds to disappear!!

No visible piercings other than ears. Belly piercings must be bandaided flat under your shirt for every rehearsal and performance. Visible tattoos must be covered with skincolored waterproof bandaids at every rehearsal and performance. These guidelines also apply during each & every school day!!

--------------------------------------------------------

Last please remember that OGHS Tigerettes are expected to set the standard for good behavior, good grades, and a good work ethic. 24/7...at school, at home, and in your social lives we always expect the best from you. This requires a mind, body, and spirit that is free from anything or anybody that alters thinking and behavior in a negative way. Review the Tigerette Trait list you received the first day you made guard...if you make a solid effort to make sure you try to display those traits everyday it will make a huge difference in the success of our group as a whole.

We are sooooooo excited about the fall and hope you are too!! If you have questions don't hesitate to email. See you on July 29th!! love, love

BRAVE 2013!!!

July Notes!!

Hope everyone is having a great summer!!

Plans and prep are underway for a great fall experience.  We hired new Guard Techs for fall...one for camp, and one/two for Tuesday nights...can't wait for you to meet these very sweet and super talented young ladies.  Please make sure you use the month of July to have yourself fully prepared...healthy eating habits, exercise, and lots of stretching will help get/keep you in shape.  Good physical health means you look better which means you will be stonger at practice and a more confident perfomer on the field.

Last but certainly not least...we all know a major part of good physical, mental, & spiritual health is remaining totaly free of any/all chemicals that impair your abilities and judgements.  Avoiding pills, smoking, and alcohol are a MUST for you to be all God intended when He created you!!  As part of your family life at home and as part of your guard & social life...24/7 it does matter who you are and what you do!!!

Guard Summer Camp Dates/Times---required!!!

Tuesday, July 30th - Friday, August 2nd = 8 a.m. - Noon
Monday, Aug 5th - Wednesday, Aug 7th = 8 a.m. - Noon
Monday, Aug 12th - Friday, August 16th = 8 a.m. - Noon

School starts for students on Monday, Aug 19th!!

Our first Tuesday night 6-9 p.m. rehearsal will be Tuesday, Aug 20th!!

Our first Thursday afterschool until 4 or 5 will be Thursday, Aug 22nd!!

WE WILL POST OUR FULL FALL CONTEST SCHEDULE AS QUICKLY AS DATES ARE DETERMINED.  All should expect the JefCoEd Band Jamboree to be one of the last two Saturdays in September, as well expect 1-3 Saturday contests in October including the already confirmed Bands of America Super Regional at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Saturday, October 26th.

Below is a repeat of the Summer Practice Goals you were given the last day of your spring clinic.  We sent you all home with a flag.  You can use whatever used weapons you find available to you in the community...if you want the real things we spin 36" weapons from www.designsbyking.com  (lightest weight king kong rifle/white/silver clip/no strap and/or the $200 king saber)

Minimum goals for all 33 Tigerettes over the summer are...

pencil turn, splits, high kick...all done left & right
heel to toe march, point march, saute, chasse, jazz run...in time & in step
flag = drop spins, extensions, cones, flips, single toss, single horizontal
rifle = slaps/in time, single toss/correct hands, height, and rotation

Guard girls who wants to tryout for "primary flag spots" available in the fall show should master all of the above plus the following...

single pirouette, attitude turn, fan kick...all both left & right
flag = double toss, double horizontal toss, praise toss, 45 toss
rifle = double with solid hands, height, rotation
saber = blade double, hilt double...both with solid hands, height, rotation

Guard Girls grades 10-12 who want to tryout for the 10-13 member weapon line in the fall show should master all of the above plus the following...

double pirouette, illusion, barrel roll
flag = 45 behind the back, one turn, high silk toss, high praise toss
rifle = triples/quads & above with solid hands/feet, height/rotation, one turn
saber = blade/hilt triples/quads...same as above, one turn
tricks = dance, flag, weapons tricks that are consistent and solid

Weapons tryouts will be the 1st Monday morning of Summer Camp.  Outside instructor (no previous affiliation with OG program) will teach short routine which includes body, flag, rifle, and saber.  Members will be judged on their ability to learn quickly, quality of technique displayed, and of course on the strength of their ability to perform the work taught.  Minimum of 10 and max of 13 weapons will be used this fall.  Selection for fall weapon line does not guarantee a particular WG 2014 placement or weapon spot.

Happy Graduation Ladybugs!!!!

Happy Graduation to our precious Sydney, Allison, Kayla, & Maci!!!!

We love each of you for who you are individually, for your dedication to the team concept, for your solid work ethic/commitment, and of course for how well you represented the Guard program at OGHS every step of the way...on the field, on the floor, in the classroom, and in everyday life the four of you maintained a high standard that makes those who walked the Guard path before you smile with pride, and will make those who follow in your footsteps work very hard to match your efforts!

Matthew 25:21 says..."His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'

Happy Graduation Ladybugs...go out into the world and enjoy every minute of the beautiful plan we know God has for your lives...our love will follow you wherever He leads!!    love, love, love, love!!

School Start Date & Summer Band Camp...

JefCoEd currently has two plans in place as they await a State vote on whether or not Alabama schools will again be required to adhere to the mandate that delays the start of school to August 19th. We know that parents need dates NOW to put down vacation time, and also our older girls need dates for summer jobs, etc. The dates listed above are those we feel will be accurate. When firm school calendar dates are decided we will adjust only if there is an absolute need, and that adjustment would push summer camp dates and the guard beach trip dates one week further into August.

So the bottom line for Guard Girls and their families is to make sure they are done with summer jobs and vacations before July 29th so they will be good to go either way.

Band Banquet...

The Band Banquet on May 11th is a required event for all Tigerettes 6-12. $15 tickets will be on sale in the bandroom closer to banquet time. Church or party dresses are appropriate to wear. The event will be held at Oak Grove 1st Baptist Church Family Life Center for Band Members, Tigerettes, & Parents only...no siblings/no friends. Time TBA. We will recognize Seniors, review accomplishments for the year, announce leadership for next year, and of course announce our show plan for Fall 2013!!

Guard Beach Trip 2013--optional!!

Guard members and their Moms are invited to participate in our annual Guard Beach Trip scheduled for Thursday - Sunday, Aug 8-11th.

Cost is $100 per person...that amount covers housing and some meals. Girls who travel without a parent pay an extra $25 gas fee at trip time. We carpool and Guard Moms split the cost of gas used in the cars.

And lastly...

Donna via cell phone had the ability up until yesterday to "group text" short messages and reminders/updates to Guard girls and Parents.  A required update to her cell yesterday morning eliminated that ability (type group name and send a message) so from this point (or until we find a viable option) this blog site will be the sole source of group info.

Spring Trip Meeting!

From 3/7/13...

Our required Disney Trip meeting is next Thursday night, March 14th @ 7 p.m. in the auditorium.  Guard Girls MUST have a Parent and/or Guardian attend to complete required travel documents.  More details posted here next Monday afternoon!!

Updated added Monday, March 11th...

Parent/Guardian should be prepared to update student health & travel forms with any insurance changes and/or contact info updates.  Signature & date will be required as proof that the forms we have on file are accurate.

Guard members traveling without a Parent...prescription & over the counter medication forms will be available at the meeting and must be turned in by the parent to our school nurse during regular school hours on or before Friday, April 19th.

Chaperones/Parents/Followers who wish to purchase the three Disney Trip Tees that the band will wear on the trip may do so ONLY at the meeting Thursday night.  Trip Tees are being sold prepaid only and must be bought "all or none"...all in the same adult size.  Be prepared to turn in the adult size you need along with a $30 (per person) check made out to OGHS BAND to place a Trip Tee order.

Adults who paid for their band trip but plan to fly to and/or from Orlando MUST designate in writing the name of the adult they designate to "use" the bus seat they paid for during bus travel to/from Orlando.  Band Parent notes go to Mr. Henson, Guard Parent notes to Donna or Rebecca.

To avoid drama and hurt feelings trip rooming lists for Guard Girls was done by Donna & Rebecca...we assigned 4 or 5 to a room by grade level.  Guard Girls will ride the Guard Bus with Donna/Rebecca and all Guard Parents & Guard Followers will be on a Parent Bus.  Everyone should expect to have a seatmate!!

Please jot down any questions you may have and if they are not covered in the meeting Thursday night find Donna or Rebecca to ask after the meeting.

Winter Guard Info!!

Our Winter Guards and Indoor Drumline compete at Hoover HS this Saturday!!  Winter Guard Info sheet will go home with WG Girls Tuesday afternoon/night.  Others interested in contest info please visit www.scgconline.org  for details.  We would love to see the stands filled with OG people while our kids perform...hope to see you there!!   :0)

emailed to parents on 3/13...

This clarification of info is for Parents of Veteran Tigerettes Only...

My cell phone allows group messaging (Rebecca's does not) but it has begun to randomly erase people from the groups they are assigned too. Some of you got the text yesterday...some did not. And as well I think some cell numbers for girls and parents may have changed since last fall so...to clarify...

The required Disney Trip meeting for Parents/Adult Followers meeting is tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at OGHS. Please have with you any contact or insurance information that needs to be updated. New this year...Parent/Student will need to sign off that they have received and understand field trip rules and regulations.

Tigerettes will be wearing the black sequin uniform from last fall with ballet shoes that were already purchased for the Disney parade. Girls will also wear Minnie Mouse Ears in the parade. Those were cheaper online than in the park so we ordered them for the whole group. Each Tigerette must turn in $11 (correct cash only) to Maci Swindle at or before tomorrow night's meeting to pay for their mouse ears...and yes, the girls keep the mouse ears and the ballets after the parade. Please take time now to locate your daughter's black sequin uniform and make sure it is hanging safely somewhere so there is no last minute panic about location or condition of the costume at trip time.

Apologies for mix up in communication resulting in last minute notice...
thanks!!

School Attendance and Grades: Old and New Tigerettes

While we rarely experience problems with Tigerette attendance we did want to provide the following information for you as an "fyi"...

Grades and attendance the first nine weeks of the school year were better than the second nine weeks...not a coincidence we think that most (not all) slacked off some when the football season ended and they no longer "had to be at school" to participate on Friday nights, etc.

You all recently got report cards for first semester and should be getting progress reports for the new nine weeks the end of this week or the next. Please make sure your daughter asks for (continues to ask if needed) and completes work missed when she is not at school. Grades will be checked and parents will be notified in writing if we find grade or conduct problems.

Sadly, school-wide OG student absences (including checkins/outs) during the first semester of this year were at an all time high. Signs have now been posted in hallways and by classroom doors concerning attendance and how to follow proper procedures...these signs are an indication for us all that our Admin is pushing this semester to address excessive student absence(s).

So...

Parents can help by making sure all absences, checkins, checkouts are "needs" rather than "wants"...this includes getting to school on time in the mornings and keeping an eye on tardies to class. As well please make sure to send in doctor/dental excuses and parent notes for ALL absences, checkins & outs immediately following the occurrence. Note: after a period of time a state report is generated and once that is done nothing can be corrected...so timely follow thru with excuses after an absence is imperative!!

Also of note: on days we experience weather issues the note MUST state "weather concerns" as the issue that caused the absence(s) or checkins & outs. Stating weather allows those days to count as "permissible".

Reminder!!

Just a friendly reminder that cell phones and use of social media sites are restricted during school hours. Be aware that every call/text/pic on cells and posts/tweets/pics on social sites are timestamped and hence could be processed as a rules violation if questions or issues occur.

Please remember as well that your social media accounts represent not only you and your family but our Guard as well.  As a Tigerette you represent our group 24/7!!  People young & old see and read what you post and thus what you do/say or are involved in become part of our "rep".

Please avoid use of ugly language and crude abbreviations...please stop posting bad pics of yourself or others...know that a bad pic of someone posted as a joke is not funny.  Please avoid posting things that "appear nice" but are solely intended to make others feel left out, and lastly please avoid posts, games,  & "selfies" that beg for attention.  Self esteem should not come from social media attention...all you need to do is look in the mirror and look to your family & friends.  Please start counting your blessings instead of counting vain compliments on social sites to make yourself feel good.

Parents please, please monitor all your daughter's social accounts for content...and as always everyone please follow Thumper's rule of advise...

"if you can't say/post something nice, don't say/post anything!"

And last but certainly not least...HUGE CONGRATS to both our WGs for their 1st Place wins at Prattville last Saturday.  Both groups did great work on the floor!!  The next local show will be on Saturday, March 16th @ Hoover HS...hope to see you there!!

Wednesday, January 23, 2013
