A parent emailed questioning policy on not allowing students to go early or stay longer so we checked with appropriate person downtown and our new principal/Mrs. Dennis to make sure we understood & were following JefCoEd policy exactly as intended.
Here is what we found out...
Extracurricular Activities ARE permitted to require student participants to travel with them going and coming.
JefCoEd says this issue is a local school decision.
Mrs. Dennis/Principal says band/guard students MUST leave/travel with the group going to Orlando, participate as part of the trip for it's duration, and that the Parent may sign their child off (only their child per JefCoEd) at the end of all scheduled field trip activities. Mrs. Dennis indicates Parents should contact her for permission on an individual basis.
While we could follow the extracurricular policy as stated on the gold sheet sent home, in good faith we will defer/refer parents to Mrs. Dennis for a decision in regard to their child staying longer with them in Orlando.
Please DO NOT contact Mrs. Dennis with questions until we have confirmed for you the Board approval for this trip! Thx!!
