Please note that the JefCoEd new Code of Conduct book states 4 parent note absences,
ckins, or ckouts per class missed per semester is the max.
5th block everyday = gloves, ts, shorts, water, and athletic shoes!!
Tuesday = Practice 5-8 p.m.
Thursday = Afterschool practice until 5 p.m.
Friday, Sept 29th = game at West Blocton HS...no pep rally!!

Friday @ school...Tie Dye Theme
Tigs come to school with hair down flatironed straight, full makeup, dress wearing Tie Dye items of choice...athletic shoe of choice/no sandals. No face or hair paint!!!
Tigs bring Friday morning in garment bag & monogram bag...black sequin leotard and matching black skirted leggings over proper undies with bodystocking and jazz shoes...full makeup, hair down flatironed straight...bring guard bag containing gloves, poms, a solid black towel or small throw to sit on during the game...a stain stick and bug spray also come in handy. (Bodystocking MUST be worn under the leotard & leggings...straps was cut to tie halter style. Make sure undergarments remove all bounce/jiggle and leave no visible lines on body) We purchased and will have clear ponchos for Tigerettes if it rains.
Friday @ 3:05...all Tigs stay after to dress on campus. Dinner provided!
Tigerettes are required to ride the bus to the game. They may be checked off by their PARENT or by another ADULT PARENT designated in writing BEFORE WE LEAVE OG. Phone calls & texts from parents will not be accepted...we must have a written note with parent signature. Tigs riding the bus home are NOT permitted to switch buses...they go to the game and return to the school on the same bus!! They MUST have a ride waiting on them at school when the buses return...we can't go home until they do!
TIGERETTES ARE NOT PERMITTED TO LEAVE EVENTS EARLY!
Tigerettes are expected to behave in an appropriate manner at all times. In or out of uniform every choice made has a consequence. Do not jeopardize your reputation, or the reputation of our Guard, by participating in public displays of affection (PDA), ignore and do not respond to ugly talk or gestures. All school, band, guard rules apply at school events/activities. Pay attention, make sure your words and your actions stay positive at all times.
Tigerettes are required to be in the company of at least two other Guard members at all times at all rehearsals & games...both home & away...there is safety in numbers...safety from vultures and also safety from the rumor mill!!!
Students only in the bandroom and school buildings on practice & game days.
Please don’t forget that laps are required when Tigs are late or when they show up unprepared. We thank you in advance for being a responsible member and parent...arriving on time and having all items needed for rehearsal/games/contests/exhibitions. We also appreciate you all “not whining” when lack of preparation or time management sends a girl around the field.
We thank you in advance for your cooperation regarding policy issues and ask that you remember they are not intended to cause student/parent problems, but are put in place to help ensure the safety of participants & smooth operation of our group as a whole.
Other notes...
As was discussed at the required Booster meeting Band & Tigs will no longer have a third quarter break. Water will be provided during the game but no other foods/drinks are permitted...and yes that means we can't drop by to give Tigs a sip or a bite of anything! So please make sure your daughter eats a little something before she arrives at the game this week and plan to have dinner after the game.

Next $110 payment is due on Tuesday, October 10th.
Photocopies of required travel documents are due Oct 10 as well!! 2 IDs per person. Do NOT send originals...get your copies made and send only those to us!!
ADULT ROOMING PLANS DUE WITH OCTOBER PAYMENT!!!
Guard Rooming plans will be due in November. Guard girls room quad with other guard girls.
Parents are responsible for securing their own roomies.

TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE...
BOA TIMELINE WAS SENT THIS MORNING VIA REMIND...SORRY THIS IS A LOT OF INFO...
- Depending on outcome of prelims we may have the opportunity to perform during the finals competition...see "WHY GO" below!!
- If we DO NOT perform in finals, we will pack/load equipment and return to OGHS, stopping for dinner on the way home.
- In this scenario, arrival time at OGHS will be communicated via Remind.
"IF" we perform at finals parents will buy finals tickets at that time. Directions would be sent via Remind.
- Band boosters will provide a bottle of water and snack for the students between prelims and finals if needed.
NOTES...
BOA will not let folks enter stadium while band is performing...please make sure you arrive early enough to get into the stands and seated before your daughter performs :0)
GUARD ARRIVE AT 10 A.M. IN COSTUME AND BRING LOADED GUARD BAG...NO POMS!
HAIR MUST BE DOWN STRAIGHT WITH HEADBAND PINNED IN...YOU WILL DO MAKEUP ON THE BUS.
GUARD WILL STAY IN COSTUME ALL DAY!!! INSOLES IN JAZZ SHOES WILL HELP WITH FOOT COMFORT.
Small cross-body type purses are the only ones permitted for the day...must have have cash, a charged cell phone, and fem items in that one purse. YOU WILL NOT HAVE TIME TO SEARCH FOR PARENTS.
Finals = top bands that competed in prelims. We suggest parents purchase prelim tickets only. If we are lucky enough to win and stay for finals parents can decide at that point whether to buy & stay or not.
Ticket prices: $18 RANGE per person for Prelims / $18 RANGE per person for Finals
Please note:
Guard members will stay with the Guard group the entire day. They will be given cell phone breaks to check in with parents, but otherwise the cells will remain OFF and in their purse!! There will be tons of souvenir items and all types of food available...just remember you will be paying stadium and/or mall prices.
If we don't make finals expect buses home early. If we do perform at finals expect buses home by 1:00 a.m. They will call parents 20 mins before arriving at OGHS and must have a ride waiting for them when we arrive.
BUS CHECK OFF ON SATURDAY WILL BE THE SAME AS FRIDAY NIGHTS. TIGS MAY CHECK OFF WITH THEIR PARENT OR WITH AN ADULT DESIGNATED BY THEIR PARENT IN A SIGNED NOTE PRESENTED TO US ON SATURDAY MORNING.

Why go??????????????????
Last but not least...have you ever entered a competition you knew you may not win? Yes mams/sirs...we sure have and looking back at all the times we didn’t win made more of a difference in our group life than all the times we entered a competition knowing we had an advantage and would win. Here are some reasons we should always want to face high quality competitors...
1. You/we will push your perceived limits farther then you ever thought you could. Whether it is the external pressure of the competition or the energy on the field, you will always push harder than you think you can when people are watching and you know your score counts.
2. Competition is a good way to take a snapshot of where you are right now. It gives you a concrete result that you can test against at any point in the future. Competition is testing, practicing, and retesting. No matter the type of competition, it allows you to say “this is where I am with this particular thing right now.” It allows you to see where you are and you see where you want to be!!
3. It’s a whole lot of fun! The camaraderie that forms with a group of people who are competing is even deeper than with a group of people who just happen to be doing the same thing side-by-side. The best times you’ll ever have is the bus ride home or going out to eat together to celebrate the end of a competition. There is a chemical release in your brain of endorphins (your feel-good, happy hormone) after the completion of a hard competition, and it’s even more intense when you are surrounded by the smiling faces of people who did it with you or cheered you on. There is no better feeling.
4. The joy is in the competition, not the practice. Band/Guard practice is done in order to perform the show well at games and contests. No one is ok with just going to practice everyday. If all you ever do is practice OR if all you do is only go where you know you will win...then you can’t say you are really a competitor of that sport; you are merely a fan. At some point you have to be willing to throw your hat in the ring...and to grow/learn that ring must be filled with tough competitors.
